Corston, Wiltshire

Historical Description

Corston, a tithing-chapelry in St Paul-Malmesbury parish, Wiltshire, 2½ miles SSW of Malmesbury station on the G.W.R., and 7 N by E of Chippenham. It has a post office under Malmesbury; money order and telegraph office, Malmesbury. Population, 452. The living is a vicarage, with Eodbourne annexed, in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol; value, £85 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is Perpendicular English, and has an elegant bell-turret.

The church of All Saints, formerly a chapel of ease belonging to Malmesbury, is a modern structure in mixed styles, and consists of chancel, nave, south porch and western turret containing 2 small bells. The church was restored and a new chancel added in 1911: there are 120 sittings.
