Wyke, Surrey

Historical Description

Wyke, an ecclesiastical district in Worplesdon parish, and a chapelry partly also in Ash and Wamborough parishes, Surrey. The district lies 1½ mile NW of Guildford station on the L. & S.W.R. The chapelry was constituted in 1847, and its post town is Guildford. Population, 709. Henley Park and Westwood are the chief residences. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Winchester; gross value, £235. Patron, Eton College. The church was built in 1858.
