Elmham (South) St James, a parish in Suffolk, 4A miles SE from Homersfield station on the G.E.R., and 6 NW from Halesworth. It has a post office under Halesworth; money order and telegraph office, Metfield. Acreage, 1315; population, 201. The living is a rectory in the diocese oE Norwich; net value, £168 with residence, in the gift of Sir Hugh Edward Adair, Bart. The church, which is said to stand on the highest ground in the county, is a building of flint and rubble in the Decorated style, has a Norman north door, contains some early decorated screen-work, a square Norman font, remains of sedilia, and some small brassesi
