Historical Description
Rede or Reed, a village and a parish in Suffolk. The village stands 7 miles SSW of Bury St Edmunds station on the G.E.R. Post town, Bury St Edmunds; money order and telegraph office, Horringer. The parish comprises 1239 acres; population, 204. The manor belongs to the Marquis of Bristol, who is principal landowner. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ely; net value, £195 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is a small building of flint in the Perpendicular style, consisting of chancel, nave, S porch, and a square western embattled tower.
