Historical Description

Pettaugh, a parish in Suffolk, 3 miles S by W of Debenham, and 7 NE of Needham station on the G.E.R. It has a post office under Stonham; money order and telegraph office, Stonham. Acreage, 807; population, 221. The manors belong to Lords Tollemache and Henniker. There are two flour-mills. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £132 with residence. The church is an ancient building of stone and flint in the Perpendicular style, consisting of chancel, nave, S porch, and a square western tower.
