Ouse, The Little, or The Brandon, Suffolk
Historical Description
Ouse, The Little, or The Brandon, a river of Suffolk and Norfolk. It is formed by two headstreams, the one rising 2¼ miles S of Botesdale in Suffolk, the other rising at Lopham Fen, 4½ miles WNW of Diss in Norfolk. It unites these headstreams on the boundary between the counties, 1½ mile ESE of Blo Norton; it runs about 24 miles westward, along the boundary, past Gasthorpe, Rushford, Thetford, Santon, Brandon, and Hockwold, to a point 4 miles below Hockwold; and it proceeds thence about 5 miles northwestward, within the border of Norfolk, to a confluence with the Ouse at Brandon Bridge.
