Historical Description
Ilketshall St Andrew, a village and a parish in Suffolk, 4 miles SE of Bungay station on the G.E.R. There is a post office under Bungay; money order and telegraph office, Bungay. Acreage, 1718; population, 484. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Norwich; net yearly value, £118 with residence. The church is a small hut ancient building of flint, and possesses a considerable amount of architectural character and interest The plan consists of a nave, chancel of practically the same width throughout, and a W tower, of which the lower part is circular, the rest octagonal. Much of the work dates from the beginning of the 12th century, including the circular part of the tower. There is a Weslevan chapel.
