Historical Description
Hinderclay, a village and a parish in Suffolk, near the boundary with Norfolk, 2 miles NW from Botesdale, and 6¼ NNW from Finningham station on the G.E.R. There is a post office under Diss; money order and telegraph office, Botesdale. Acreage, 1488; population, 312. The manor belongs to the Wilson family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ely; net yearly value, £224. The church is a plain edifice, with a tower. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel and a few small charities.
