Higham (Hadleigh), Suffolk
Historical Description
Higham, a village and a parish in Suffolk, at the confluence of the rivers Bret and Stour, about 4½ miles respectively S, WNW, and NNW of Hadleigh, Manningtree, and Ardleigh stations on the G.E.R. There is a post office under Stratford St Mary (S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Stratford St Mary. Acreage, 900; population, 194. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £198. The church is an ancient building of flint in the Perpendicular style. Higham House, Higham Hall, and The Lodge are among the chief residences.
