Stanton Prior, Somerset

Historical Description

Stanton Prior, a parish in Somerset, at Stantonbury Hill, 6 miles from Bath station on the G.W.R. Post town, Bristol; money order office, Marksbury; telegraph office, Timsbury, Acreage, 832; population, 95. The manor belonged anciently to Bath priory. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells; net value, £160 with residence. The church is old but has been tastefully restored. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
