Oare, Somerset

Historical Description

Oare, a parish in Somerset, on the East Lynn river at the boundary with Devonshire, 7 miles ESE of Lynton, and 12 W of Minehead station on the G.W.R. Post town, Lynton; money order and telegraph office, Lynmouth. Acreage, 4017; population. 80. Most of the land is lofty moor. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells; value, £100. The church is Later English, and consists of nave and chancel, with a tower.
