Bathealton, Somerset

Historical Description

Bathealton, a parish in Somerset, 4 miles from Milver-ton station on the G.W.R., and 6 from Wellington. Acreage, 946; population, 123. There is a post office under Wiveliscombe (R.S.O.), which is the money order and telegraph office. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells; net value, £215. The church was rebuilt about 50 years ago, and is very good. Some remains of an old British camp are on a hill in the parish. Sharp's charity is distributed to needy inhabitants each year in the church porch on Candlemas Day. Bathealton Court is the chie½ residence.
