Historical Description
Hopton Cangeford or Hopton-in-the-Hole, a parish in Salop, 4½ miles NE of Ludlow. Post town, Ludlow. Acreage, 1279; population, 73. The townships of Great and Little Poston were added to this parish in 1881 for civil and ecclesiastical purposes. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Hereford; gross value, £45 with residence. The church is a modern brick edifice.
