Historical Description
Doddington, an ecclesiastical parish in the civil parishes of Cleobury-Mortimer and Coreley, Salop, 4 miles W of Cleobury-Mortimer. It has a post office under Bewdley;. money order office, Clee Hill; telegraph office, Cleobury-Mortimer. It was constituted in 1849. Population, 294. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Hereford; gross value, £49. The church was erected in 1849.

St. John
The church of St. John, situated on the side of the Clee Hill, and erected in 1849 by the late Thomas Botfield esq, of Hopton Court, at a cost of £2,000, is a building of stone in the Gothic style, consisting of chancel, nave, south porch and an embattled tower containing a clock and 2 bells: the church was endowed by the founder with £1,000 and five acres of land, producing altogether about £50 yearly.
