Epwell, Oxfordshire

Historical Description

Epwell, a village, a township, and a chapelry in Swalcliffe parish, Oxford, near Broone Hill, adjacent to the boundary with Warwick, 7 miles W from Banbury. There is-a post office under Banbury; money order office, Sibforcl Gower; telegraph office, Swalcliffe. Acreage, 1140; population, 217. The living is a rectory annexed to the vicarage of Swalcliffe, in the diocese of Oxford; joint net yearly value, £150 with residence. The church is an ancient building of stone, of the Decorated and Perpendicular periods. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
