Historical Description
Weston, a village and a parish in Notts, 1½ mile from Crow Park station on the G.N.R., and 3 miles NNW of Carlton-on-Trent. There is a post office under Newark; money order and telegraph office, Sutton-on-Trent. The parish comprises North and South Weston and Scarthing Moor. Acreage, 1740; population, 332. The manor belongs to Earl Manvers. There are corn mills and a malt kiln. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £270 with residence. Patron, Earl Manvers. The church is in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, and tower with spire, and was restored in 1880. There are a Wesleyan chapel, and an endowed school.
