Thorpe, Nottinghamshire

Historical Description

Thorpe, a parish in Notts, 3½ miles SW of Newark railway station. Post town, Newark; money order and telegraph office, Farndon. Acreage, 722; population, 72. The manor belongs to the baronet family of Bromley. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £1.65 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is Late Perpendicular, and excepting the tower was restored in 1873, and consists of chancel, nave, S porch, and a low tower.
