Historical Description
Bavington, Great, a township in Kirkwhelpington parish, Northumberland, 4 miles E of Wathng Street, and 10¼ N of Col-bridge, which is the post town. Acreage, 1576; population, 36. Bavington Hall, in the township of Little Bavington, is the seat of the Shafto family. There is an English Presbyterian church, with residence for the minister.
