Weston Favell, Northamptonshire

Historical Description

Weston Favell, a parish, with a village, in Northamptonshire, 2¼ miles ENE of Northampton, the nearest railway station. It has a post office under Northampton; money order office, Wellingboro Road; telegraph office, Northampton. Acreage, 1137; population, 505. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; net value, £230 with residence. The church is an edifice of stone in the Transition Norman and Later styles, consisting of chancel, nave, N aisle, S porch, and western tower. There is a Wesleyan chapel, an endowed school, and some small chanties. Hervey, the author of " Meditations among the Tombs," was rector, and was buried in the chancel in 1759.
