Clinton, Northamptonshire

Historical Description

Clinton, a parish in Northamptonshire, 1 mile WSW of Peakirk station on the G.N.R., 1½ E of Helpston station on the M.R., and 3 miles SSE of Maiket Deeping. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Market Deeping. j Acreage, 1368; population, 369. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; net yearly value, £160 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Peterborough. i The church is Decorated English, has a Later English tower and lofty octagonal spire, contains a piscina and two curious ancient chests. There are Congregational and Primitive Methodist chapels.
