Historical Description

Shereford or Sheringford, a parish in Norfolk, on the river Wensum, 2 miles W from Fakenham Town station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint railway, and 3 W from Fakenham station on the Wymondham and Wells section of the G.E.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Pakenham. Acreage, 872; population of the civil parish, 96; of the ecclesiastical, with Toft Trees, 193. The Marquis Townshend is lord of the manor. The living is a rectory, annexed to the vicarage of Toft Trees, in the diocese of Norwich; joint net value, £323 with residence. Patron, Marquis Townshend. The church is a small plain building of flint in the Norman and Early English styles.
