Scottow, Norfolk
Historical Description
Scottow, a scattered village and a parish in Norfolk. The village stands 2 miles NW of Coltishall station on the East Norfolk section of the G.E.R., 1½ SW of Worstead station on the Cromer branch of the same line, 4 SSW of North Walsham, and 10 from Norwich. It has a post office under Norwich; money order and telegraph office, Coltishall. The parish comprises 2126 acres; population, 379. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. Scottow Hall, a seat of the Durrant family, is a large country mansion standing in a pleasant park. The manor and most of the land belong to the Durrant family. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £196 with residence. The church is a building of flint in the Early English and Perpendicular styles, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, S porch, and a lofty embattled western tower.
