Historical Description

Roydon (near Lynn), a parish, with a village, in Norfolk, 3½ miles E of North Wootton station on the Lynn and Hunstanton section of the G.E.R., and 5½ NE of King's Lynn. The Midland and Great Northern Joint railway has a station in this parish called Grimston Road. Post town, Lynn; money order and telegraph office, Grimston. Acreage, 1371 y population, 174. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The living is a rectory, annexed to Castle. Rising, in the diocese of Norwich; joint net value, £300 with residence. The church, which was rebuilt in 1857, is a small building of rubble in the Norman style, consisting-of chancel, nave, S porch, and an embattled western tower.
