Hedenham, Norfolk
Historical Description
Hedenham, a village and a parish in Norfolk. The village stands on the SE border of the county, 3 miles NW by N from Bungay station on the G.E.R., and has a post office under Bungay; money order office, Ditchingham; telegraph office, Bungay. The parish comprises 1802 acres; population, 228. Hedenham Hall is a chief residence. The manor belongs to the Irby family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £318 with residence. The church is a fine structure of flint and rubble in the Early English style, has a square tower, and contains monuments of the Bedingfields and the Garneys. Some Roman remains were found in 1858.
