Historical Description
Redbourne, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire. The village stands near Ermine Street, 2½ miles E by N of Kirton Lindsey station on the main line of the M.S. & L.R. It has a post and money order office under Kirton Lindsey (R.S.O.); telegraph office, Kirton Lindsey. The parish comprises 3973 acres; population, 321. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. All the parish, including the manor and Redbourne Hall, a fine mansion of stone, belongs to the Duke of St Albans. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; gross value, £260 with residence. Patron, the Duke of St Albans. The church is a fine building of stone in the Perpendicular style, consisting of chancel, nave, S porch, and a lofty embattled western tower. It has some beautiful stained windows, and an ancient tomb supposed to date from about 1500. This church is the burial-place of the Beauclerk family, dukes of St Albans, the family mausoleum being on the S side of the chancel.
