Newstead, Lincolnshire
Historical Description
Newstead, formerly an extra-parochial tract in Lincolnshire, is now a parish in Glanford Brigg union, on the river Ancholme, 1½ mile S of Glanford Brigg. Acreage, 477; population, 40. A Gilbertine priory was founded here by Henry III. The crypt of the chapter-house still remains, and is in a fair state of preservation.
