Historical Description

Hacconby or Hackenby, a village, a township, and a parish in Lincolnshire. The township lies on Carr Dyke, 4 miles N from Bourne, and 1½ mile N from Morton station on the G.N.R. The parish includes also the hamlet of Sten-field, and it has a post office under Bourne; money order office, Morton; telegraph office, Rippingate. Acreage, 2596; population, 363. The manor belongs to the Earl of Ancaster. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the vicarage of Morton, in the diocese of Lincoln; joint net yearly value, £360 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Lincoln. The church is partly Early English, consists of nave, aisles, and chancel, and has a tower and spire.
