Peatling Magna, a parish, with a village, in Leicestershire, on an affluent of the river Soar, 2½ miles SE of Conntesthorpe station on the Rugby and Leicester branch of the M.R., and 6½ NE by N of Lutterworth. Post town, Lutterworth; money order office, Gilmorton; telegraph office, Wigston Magna. Acreage, 1862; population of the civil parish, 160; of the ecclesiastical, with Willoughby Waterless, 439. The manor belongs to the Smith family. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the rectory of Willoughby Waterless, in the diocese of Peterborough; joint gross value, £302 with residence. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Norman, Early English, and Decorated styles, consisting of chancel, nave, N porch, and a western tower and spire.
