Drayton, Leicestershire
Historical Description
Drayton, a small village and a township in Bringhurst parish, Leicestershire, near the river Wetland, 2 miles W of Rockingham. Post town, Uppingham; money order and telegraph office, Great Easton. Acreage, 733; population, 105. George Fox the founder of Quakerism was a native. There is a small chapel belonging to the Church of England, also a Wesleyan chapel.

St. James
The ancient chapel of St. James was for many years desecrated and used as a bakehouse: the chancel has long since entirely disappeared; but in 1878 the site and remains of the building were purchased by G. L. Watson esq, and the building, which was as far as possible restored, and used regularly for divine service.
