Historical Description
Portsmouth, a village in Cliviger township, Whalley parish, Lancashire, on the Todmorden branch of the L. & Y.R., near the boundary with Yorkshire, 3 miles NW of Todmorden. It has a station on the railway, several cotton miles, brickworks, and quarries. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Todmorden. Portsmouth House is the seat of the Wilson family.
