Historical Description

Rawcliffe, Out, a township and an ecclesiastical parish in St Michael-on-Wyre parish, Lancashire, on the river Wyre, 4¼ miles E by N of Poulton railway station, and 5½ WSW of Garstang. There is a post office under Garstang (R.S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Great Eccleston. Acreage, 4593, of which 162 are water; population, 721. The manor belongs to the France family. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Manchester; net value, £185 with residence. Patron, the Vicar of St Michael-on-Wyre. The church was built in 1838, is in the Norman style, and consists of chancel, nave, aisles, and a bell-turret.
