Claughton (Garstang), Lancashire

Historical Description

Claughton, an extensive township in Garstang parish in Lancashire, on the Lancaster Canal and the Lancaster and Preston railway, 2 miles S of Garstang, and 2 from Caton station on the M.R. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office of the name of Claughton-on-Brock, under Garstang (R.S.O.) Acreage, 3786; population, 575. Claughton Hall is the scat of the Brockholes family. There are a Roman Catholic chapel, modern and in the Grecian style, a large Roman Catholic school, and some small charities.
