Historical Description
Castleton, an ecclesiastical, manufacturing, and agricultural parish in Castleton township, Lancashire, 2½ miles SSW of Rochdale. Post town, Manchester. Population, 6395. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Manchester; value, £400 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Manchester. The church was built in 1862, and is a fine edifice with a very handsome spire.
