Historical Description
Sutton-by-Dover, a parish in Kent, 2 miles from Walmer station on the Dover and Deal Joint railway. Post town, Deal; money order and telegraph office, Upper Walmer. Acreage, 1071; population of the civil parish, 128; of the ecclesiastical, 304. A detached portion, called Little Sutton, lies between Ringwould and Ripple. Lord Northbourne is lord of the manor. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury, and was annexed in 1868 to the rectory of Little Mongeham; net value, £259 with residence. The church is small and ancient.
