Langley, Kent

Historical Description

Langley, a village and a parish in Kent. The village stands 4½ miles SE of Maidstone station on the L.C. & D.R. It has a post office under Maidstone; money order and telegraph office, Sutton Valence. Acreage, 1496; population, 427. The manor belongs to the Earl of Bomney. The living is a rectory 66* in the diocese of Canterbury; gross value, £370 with residence. The church was rebuilt in 1855, is in the Pointed style, and has a tower and small spire. There is a school connected with the church.
