Cray St Paul, Kent

Historical Description

Cray, St Paul's, a parish in Kent, on the rivulet Cray,¾ of a mile NNE of St Mary-Cray station on the L.C. & D.R., and 4½ miles E of Bromley. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under St Mary Cray (R.S.O.) Acreage, 1654; population, 1028. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury; value, £282 with residence, in the gift of Earl Sydney. The church is Norman and Early English, and has been restored.

St. Paulinus (parish church)

The church of St. Paulinus is of flint and stone, chiefly in the Early English style, and has a tower with spire containing 3 bells: several of the windows are stained, two being memorials: the Churchyard affords fine views over the surrounding landscape: there are 300 sittings.

The Wesleyan chapel was built in 1817.
