Worting, Hampshire

Historical Description

Worting, a parish in Hants, 2½ miles W by S of Basingstoke station on the L. & S.W.R. It has a post office under Basingstoke; money order and telegraph office, Basingstoke. Acreage, 1145; population, 141. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester; gross value, £220 with residence. The church, which has been rebuilt, is in the Early English style. There are almshouses for two poor families.
