Vernham Dean, Hampshire

Historical Description

Vernham Dean, a parish in Hants, 8 miles N by W of Andover station on the L. & S.W.R., with a post and money order office under Hungerford; telegraph office, Hurstbourne Tarrant. Acreage, 3921; population of the civil parish, 568; of the ecclesiastical, 561. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Winchester; gross value, £300 with residence. The church is a small structure of flint, and was restored in 1851. There are Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels.
