Shidfield, Hampshire
Historical Description
Shidfield, a chapelry in Droxford parish, Hants, 2¼ miles from Botley station on the L. & S.W.R. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office, and contains Shirrell Heath and Waltham Chase hamlets. Population, 1093. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Winchester; net value, £255 with residence. Patron, the Rector of Droxford. The church was built in 1875, and is a handsome stone structure in the Gothic style, with an embattled tower. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel, reading room, and cottage hospital.
