Historical Description

Itchin Stoke or Itchen Stoke, a parish, with a village, in Hants, on the river Itchin, 2 miles WNW of Alresford, and 1½ mile from Itchen Abbas station on the L. & S.W.R. Post town, Alresford. Acreage, 2717; population of the civil parish, 279; of the ecclesiastical, 303. The manor belongs to Lord Ashburton. The living is a vicarage, with Abbotstone rectory annexed, in the diocese of Winchester; value, s£180 with residence. Patron, Lord Ashburton. The church was rebuilt in 1866, and has a very ornamental interior, there being thirty-two stained glass windows.
