Winterbourne Down, Gloucestershire

Historical Description

Winterbourne Down, an ecclesiastical parish in Winterbourne parish, Gloucestershire, 2½ miles ENE of Filton station on the South Wales branch of the G.W.R.. and 5½ NE by N of Bristol. It was constituted in 1861, and has a post office under Bristol; money order office, Winterbourne; telegraph office, Hambrook. Population, 840. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol; gross value, £140 with residence. Patrons, the Society for the Maintenance of the Faith. The church of All Saints is modern.
