Avonmouth, Gloucestershire
Historical Description
Avonmouth, a seaport in the parish of Shirehampton, Gloucestershire, at the mouth of the river Avon, 6½ miles NW by W of Bristol. There is an excellent dock, 1400 feet long and 500 feet wide, and two stations, Avonmouth and Avonmouth Dock, in connection with the G.W.R. and the M.R. There is a church, and a post office under Bristol.
