The Stort, Essex

Historical Description

Stort, The, a river of Essex and Herts, rising near Meesden, and running about 22 miles, partly within Essex, chiefly on the boundary between Essex and Herts, mainly southward, partly south-westward, past Bishop Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, and Roydon, to the Lea in the vicinity of Hoddesdon.
