Whitwell House, a township not attached to any parish, in Durham, 3 miles ESE of Durham, and 1¼ mile from Shincliffe station on the N.E.R. Post town, Durham; money order and telegraph office, Sherburn. Acreage, 642; population, 210. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel and a reading-room.
