Historical Description

Throston, a township in Hart parish, Durham, partly within the borough of West Hartlepool, and 2 miles from West Hartlepool railway station. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office (T.S.O.) under West Hartlepool. Acreage, 1632 of land and 99 of foreshore; population, CO 83. The West Hartlepool workhouse is in this township. There is a Wesleyan chapel. See WEST HARTLEPOOL.
