Roker, Durham

Historical Description

Roker, a watering-place in Monk Wearmouth parish, Durham, on a terrace, 1 mile NNE of Sunderland. It has a good hotel and lodging-houses, good sands for bathing, a pier, a public park laid out in 1880, and a post, money order, and telegraph office (T.S.O.) under Sunderland.
