Kyo, Durham

Historical Description

Kyo, a township in the ecclesiastical parish of Collieriy, Durham, with a station at Annfield Plain on the N.E.B.,. 9 miles NW by N of Durham. There is a post, money order, and telegraph office at Annfield Plain. Acreage, including Annfield Plain, 1795; population, 4520. There ar& large gasworks which supply gas to the neighbouring collieries. The parish church is in this township. Oxhill, a portion of the township of Kyo, is in the ecclesiastical parish of Beamish. The parish council consists of fifteen members. See COLLIEELY.
