IWERNE COURTNEY, otherwise Shroton, a village about 5 miles N.W. from Blandford. The Church (St. Mary) is a neat building, with a square pinnacled tower; the living is a rectory. A fair for cattle, cheese, &c. is held on September 25. The parish comprises about 2000 acres, and had in 1841, a population of 639.
