CHIDCOCK, otherwise Chideock, a village about 3 miles W from Bridport. The church is dedicated to St. Giles, the living is a perpetual curacy, there are also places of worship for Independents, Wesleyans, and Roman Catholics. The parish abutting on the south on the English channel comprises 1983 acres, and had in 1841, 826 inhabitants. Post Office, at Mary Sansom's. Letters are delivered at 9 30 a.m. and are despatched at 4 30 p.m.
