Historical Description

Stowford, a parish in Devonshire, 3 miles from Lifton station on the G.W.R., and 7 ENE of Launceston. Post town, Lewdown. Acreage, 2080; population, 326. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter; gross value, £190 with residence. The church was well restored in 1874. There are Baptist and Bible Christian chapels.
